“Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be.”
–Ralph Waldo Emerson
Do you have someone in your life who regularly encourages you? Someone who makes you feel like you can move mountains? In the next couple of weeks I’m going to talk more about the power of encouragement. Our world is a desert thirsting for words of praise.
Do me a favor. Take a moment today to encourage someone. Whether you choose your spouse, child, friend, neighbor, or the cashier at McDonald’s, look someone in the eye and give them a specific and sincere compliment about his/her abilities. Watch her eyes light up, or see his body straighten just a notch. If you can’t do it in person, then write a note or send an email.
Most of us are quick to say the negative. The positive takes a little more intention and work, but your words will be life-giving.
